The Brood Vein was, once, the site of an old Dwarven realm, its name lost to history. Little remains of it save for what the Brood could make use of: walls, gates, and ancient traps. Be wary of all three.
The Brood is more than just the creatures that crawl and chitter on the ground. Some believe it is also in the very soil you walk on, or in the air you breathe. Foolishness, surely. Surely.
Centuries ago, the Ironbands attempted to drown the Brood, but have only made your path more difficult. The Brood have adapted to crushing depths as they adapt to everything else.
The air flows strangely, the deeper into the Vein you travel – first one way, then the other. You attempt to ignore the sense that you are delving down the throat of a sleeping giant. Your attempts do not always succeed.
It is said that Malice used a spider to create the Brood Queen, and her creatures certainly do seem spider-like. But these monsters spin webs of flesh and tendon, all too ready to fuse with anything they touch.
The waters return, flowing deeper into the bottomless Voidscar that cuts through the heart of the Brood Vein. You can follow them towards your goal, but do not slip – or the depths of this place will consume you entire.
Precious little of the Dwarven ruins remain down here, but Serenity said a Crystal Lattice survived. Hopefully she is right, and you can use it to teleport to your goal. If not, you fear the dark down here will never let you go.
The hive of the Brood is defended by smaller nests, but each of them is dense and active enough to challenge even a dedicated force. This one, it seems, is weaker than the rest.
In the caves closest to the central hive, countless Brood sleep just beneath the soil, waiting to rise in defense of their queen. Some have waited here for centuries, dreaming of the hunt.
Hyxxis the Brood Mother was created by Malice's own hand, but it is unlikely even he imagined what the Brood would become. Still, he will use her if he can. Ensure he cannot.
